Fight back training

Many women in Nepal encounter various forms of gender based discrimination including physical harassment, violence and assault. Especially, this is graver for visually impaired young women, as they rarely have access to any forms of discussion or information on dealing with or tackling different forms of harassment. Therefore, within this context, Prayatna Nepal has organized 3  fight back training on following date  and time: February 23- March 04 2016, 21-25 February 2017 and July 03-07-2019  for visually impaired women.

The objective of those trainings were  to enhance the capacities of visually impaired women so they can take action against harassment. Altogether 32 visually impaired women from different district were participated in that training.

That session includes good touch, bad touch, combative mindset fear management and self-defense technique. At the end of training, visually impaired women realized suffering from violence is not their false it is the mistake of that person who violate them. As well as, we got to know the incident of violence was high for visually impaired women at Madeshi community. Those participants of such trainings have reported that the training makes them more confident to deal with physical harassment situation and help spread the knowledge with other peers.
