Prayatna Nepal organized a four-day personality development training for blind and visually impaired girls and women under the project “Ensure the access to sexual and reproductive health and rights to women with disabilities – Mama Cash.” Held from July 11 to 14, 2025, at Saiman Party Palace in Pokhara, the training aimed to empower 15 participants by enhancing their communication skills, self-confidence, and cultural awareness. Facilitators included Ms. Sarita Lamichhane, Mr. Rabindra Khanal, Ms. Sabita Lamichhane, Ms. Indra Kumari Dhakal, and Ms. Ramrati Tharuni, with logistical support from Ms. Ritu Pant.
The sessions covered public speaking, etiquette, body language, and saree draping. Participants learned to use hand gestures and posture to express themselves more confidently, which fostered a sense of inclusion and independence. The saree draping segment was especially appreciated, as many participants considered it essential for their professional lives. Through tactile demonstrations and repeated practice, they gained the ability to drape a saree independently. The final day focused on revision and reinforcing both communication and presentation skills.
The training concluded with reflections from participants, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity and shared how the experience had boosted their confidence and self-expression. They also showed interest in future follow-up sessions to continue developing practical life skills. Overall, the program successfully empowered the participants to present themselves with greater confidence and grace.
