Position: Monitoring, Evaluation And Learning (MEAL) Officer
Duty Station: Prayatna Nepal Contact Office, Raniban
Report to: Program Lead
Salary: Below NPR 40,000 (monthly)
Contract Duration: 18 months with possibility of extension
Minimum Experience: At least 6 months of work experience in the disability sector
Languages: Strong command of Nepali and English

Prayatna Nepal is a national non-governmental organization working to promote the rights, inclusion, empowerment, and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities. We implement various programs at the community and national levels focusing on advocacy, education, economic empowerment, and inclusive development.

Position Summary

The MEAL Officer will be responsible for managing monitoring and evaluation systems, ensuring accurate and timely data collection, analysis, reporting, and documentation of all projects under Prayatna Nepal. The role also includes contributions to branding, communication, and visibility materials of the organization. The MEAL Officer will work closely with the Program Lead, project teams, partner organizations, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring, Evaluation And Learning

  • Develop and update project-level MEAL plans, tools, and frameworks.
  • Ensure systematic and timely data collection, verification, and entry for all ongoing projects.
  • Maintain and manage the consolidated organizational database for Prayatna Nepal projects.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits, prepare monitoring reports, and follow up on action points.
  • Support baseline, midline, and endline assessments.
  • Facilitate learning activities, reflection sessions, and documentation of best practices.
  • Track progress against project indicators, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Support development of donor reports with evidence-based data.

Data Management

  • Maintain an organized and secure digital and physical filing system for project data.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data and generate required summaries, dashboards, or reports.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Provide technical support to project staff on data tools and MEAL systems. Branding, Communications & Visibility
  • Support the preparation of visibility and branding materials required for project reporting.
  • Coordinate with the communications team to ensure that project achievements and stories are well captured.
  • Contribute to the development of case studies, success stories, infographics, and newsletters.
  • Ensure donor branding and visibility guidelines are followed across all project activities.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Work closely with program and field teams for planning, data needs, and documentation.
  • Support the Program Lead in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Participate in team meetings, workshops, and relevant training.
  • Support evaluation activities led by external consultants or stakeholders.

Other Responsibilities

  • Ensure safeguarding, child protection, gender equality, and disability inclusion principles in all activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Lead or Senior management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 months of professional work experience in the disability sector (required).
  • Experience in monitoring, evaluation, data management, or project documentation (preferred).
  • Strong skills in MS Excel, data analysis, report preparation and digital documentation.
  • Good communication skills in both Nepali and English (written + spoken).
  • Ability to work independently and in group.
