Prayatna Nepal successfully organized a “Professional Counselling on SRHR Awareness” session on April 3, 2026 at Universal Cafe, Sukedhara, Kathmandu, under the project “Ensure the Access on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of Women with Disabilities.” The event brought together 27 women and girls with visual impairments, visually impaired couples, and representatives from Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs).

The session aimed to raise awareness on birth defect and disability prevention through accessible Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information. Facilitated by Dr. Khem Karki, the discussion focused on the TORCH profile test, its role in identifying infections that may cause birth defects, and the importance of preventive health practices before and during pregnancy.

Participants actively engaged in discussions on genetic testing, disability prevention, and common myths related to reproductive health. The session created a safe and confidential environment where participants could openly share experiences and seek clarification on sensitive issues.

The program concluded with enhanced awareness among participants regarding SRHR, preventive health measures, and informed decision-making related to pregnancy and disability prevention.
