Prayatna Nepal organized two Disability Inclusive Development (DID) workshops on August 7, 2026, in Pokhara and August 19, 2026, in Kathmandu, under the project “Ensure Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of Women with Disabilities,” supported by Mama Cash. The workshops aimed to sensitize stakeholders and staff from international and national non-governmental organizations (I/NGOs) on disability-related issues and encourage them to adopt more inclusive, accessible, and disability-friendly organizational practices. A total of 46 participants, including 28 in Pokhara and 18 in Kathmandu, representing local, government, national, and international organizations, participated in the sessions.
The Pokhara workshop was facilitated by Ms. Sarita Lamichhane, while the Kathmandu workshop was jointly facilitated by Ms. Sarita Lamichhane and Mr. Kushal Neupane. Both workshops covered the concept of disability, different models and types of disability, the ACAP model, disability etiquette, and common myths and misconceptions about disability.
The Kathmandu workshop also focused on physical accessibility, digital accessibility, and universal design, highlighting practical ways organizations can improve accessibility and inclusion. Interactive discussions and an organizational inclusion-assessment game enabled participants to reflect on existing barriers, assess the level of inclusion within their organizations, and identify areas for improvement.
Through these workshops, participants gained practical insights into disability-inclusive development, accessibility, and inclusive organizational practices. The sessions encouraged stakeholders to recognize and address barriers faced by persons with disabilities and consider concrete actions to make their organizations more inclusive and accessible. Through these initiatives, Prayatna Nepal continues to promote disability inclusion and support the development of accessible, inclusive, and disability-friendly institutions and environments
