Prayatna Nepal successfully conducted a five-day “Fightback Training” from May 13–17, 2026 at DAV College, Bhanimandal, Lalitpur, in collaboration with Fightback Institute. The training was organized under the project “Ensure the Access on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of Women with Disabilities” and engaged 13 visually impaired girls.
The training aimed to strengthen participants’ self-confidence, resilience, independence, and ability to protect themselves from violence while asserting their rights. Sessions combined theoretical learning with practical self-defense techniques. Participants learned about different forms of violence, good touch and bad touch, fear management, online safety, situational awareness, and the “Color Code” for personal safety.
Practical sessions included SOS blocking, palm strikes, ear strikes, eye poke techniques, and the use of white canes as self-defense tools. Trainers also emphasized the importance of using one’s voice confidently during unsafe situations.
The closing ceremony was attended by Ms. Sushila Adhikari, Deputy Mayor of Nagarjun Municipality, who distributed certificates to participants and highlighted the importance of self-defense training for girls and women. Participants shared positive feedback, noting increased awareness, confidence, and preparedness to respond to violence and online risks. The training concluded with participants feeling more empowered to safeguard their well-being and advocate for their rights in everyday life.
